WHY THE ROCKIES?

The Ontario Rockies Baseball Club provides a year-round baseball development program that practices in Hamilton, but competes in the U.S., only a 1 hour drive from our main facility.  Such easy access to the United States provides the Rockies with a tremendous opportunity for solid and varied competition, plus extensive weekly exposure to local College Scouts and Recruiters.  Since the Rockies was founded by Cuban National team member and Coach, Damian Blen, it has grown to include 4 teams from 14U-18U.  Coach Damian has a reputation for developing high-calibre players with very sound mechanics and baseball IQ, which has opened many doors with U.S. Scouts.

The Club prides itself on developing well-rounded players, both on and off the field. Respect for all, academic excellence and 150% effort at all times is expected.  As our Club continues to grow, it is an honour to watch these young players become young men, excelling in life, regardless of which path they choose.

Our program consists of 3 blocks.  Fall Ball, Off-season indoor and In-season outdoor.

FALL BALL

Fall program runs in Sept - Oct (weather permitting). During this time, teams train at least twice a week, and play games on the weekends. Fall games are exhibition games and provide coaching staff an opportunity to assess our athletes in a game situation and get an understanding on their development needs. Exhibition games are played against teams from various leagues, and involves weekend travel in Ontario, Montreal, and/or Western NY.

Fall Ball concludes with a College Tour in Florida, where players 15U - 18U visit different Junior Colleges and Universities.  All players have an opportunity to practice and play in front of College and University Coaches and Scouts, with daily Q&A's when players learn about each school's Academic and Baseball programs, including Athletic and Academic requirements.

OFF-SEASON, INDOOR

This part of the program runs from Nov to April. During this time teams train at least 3 days a week with Strength and Conditioning component every day. Players are encouraged to attend additional optional workouts to get maximum benefits from the program. 

IN-SEASON, OUTDOOR

This block runs from May to August. All teams practice 2-3 days/week with Double-headers scheduled throughout Upstate New York on weekends.  Additionally, our teams participate in summer tournaments in Canada and the United States, and include events like Pastime, PBR and Best of tournaments and showcases.
